VIDEO: Destiny Boy Finally Laid To Rest In Ogun State

Popular Nigerian Fuji singer, Afeez Adeshina, widely known as Destiny Boy, has been laid to rest in Ogun State.
Newsrain Nigeria reports that the final burial rites for the late artiste were held on Friday at his father’s residence in Odo Rori Compound, Ayetoro Yewa, Ogun State.
Destiny Boy passed away on January 17, 2026, at the age of 22, after a prolonged illness.
The burial ceremony, announced by a family representative, Alabi Gbenga, drew family members, friends, colleagues in the entertainment industry, and fans, who gathered to pay their last respects.
Emotional scenes marked the ceremony as the singer’s remains were conveyed in a white ceremonial vehicle before being carried on a traditional mat to his final resting place, amid tears and wailing from grieving relatives and sympathisers.
The family described the late musician as kind-hearted, humble, and exceptionally hardworking, noting that his deep passion for music earned him collaborations across different parts of Nigeria.
They added that his talent, dedication, and vibrant personality left a lasting impression on everyone who encountered him.
Earlier, Destiny Boy’s mother, Saidat Adeshina, disclosed that her son’s health challenges began about two years ago during preparations for the naming ceremony of his first child. She explained that the family explored every possible option—both medical and traditional—in an effort to save his life.
Following his death, controversy erupted after an audio recording circulated online, allegedly featuring his mother placing curses on him. However, both Saidat Adeshina and Destiny Boy’s sister strongly denied the claims, dismissing the audio as false and malicious.
Saidat also revealed that she has received death threats in connection with her son’s passing.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of one suspect in connection with circumstances surrounding the singer’s death, as investigations continue.
