Burna Boy Held At Moroccan Airport Over Jewellery – CAF President

President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Patrice Motsepe, has disclosed that Grammy Award-winning Nigerian artiste, Burna Boy, was briefly held by customs officials at a Moroccan airport over a jewellery-related issue.

Motsepe made the revelation during a recent press conference, explaining that the incident occurred when the singer arrived in Morocco to headline the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Fan Zone concert in Rabat.

According to the CAF President, customs officers stopped the artiste after noticing the heavy gold jewellery he was wearing on arrival. He said the matter was resolved amicably following his personal intervention.

“Recently, I was called to intervene because Burna Boy was stopped at the airport after customs officers noticed his heavy and beautiful gold jewellery. I intervened and it was resolved,” Motsepe said.

Burna Boy later went on to headline the AFCON Fan Zone concert in Rabat on January 16, thrilling fans with a live performance as part of activities lined up for the ongoing continental football tournament.

The concert also featured performances by Ghanaian music star Stonebwoy, as well as Moroccan artistes Stormy and Jaylann.
