PHOTOS: Tinubu, Sanwo-Olu Lead Tributes For Late APC Chieftain Alhaja Oyedele (Iya Luku)

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, joined others in paying tribute to the sterling qualities of the late chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Mushin Federal Constituency, Alhaja Chief Olushola Tawakalitu Oyedele, also known as Iya Luku.

The President’s remarks were conveyed by the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, His Excellency Dr. Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat. Tinubu noted that Alhaja Oyedele’s passing is a significant loss to the progressive fold in Lagos State. He described her as a giant and a general in political success, praying that her consistency, communal spirit, and selflessness as the Women Leader of The Mandate Movement would be emulated by others, especially among women.

In his remarks, Lagos State Governor, His Excellency Mr. Babajide Olushola Sanwo-Olu, described Iya Luku as an exceptional organizer of people and resources. He praised her as a worthy politician who upheld the principles of equity, fairness, and justice, which allowed her to foster friendships across all political divides.

The Executive Chairman of Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye LCDA, Hon. Rasaq Ajala, remembered the late Women Leader as a selfless politician and philanthropist who committed her personal financial resources to support aspirants or candidates she believed in. Hon. Ajala recounted that, when his father was contesting for the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Chairmanship years ago, Iya Luku donated ₦25,000 to his campaign outfit—a gesture typical of her personal and political life, marked by countless acts of generosity.

The Chairman of The Mandate Movement, Alhaji Abdullahi Ayinde Enilolobo, along with the Central Working Committee, leaders, and members from the Lagos State Chapter, were present at the Fidau session.

Dignitaries at the event included Hon. Jelili Sulaimon, Executive Chairman of Alimosho Local Government Area; Hon. Abdullahi Jebe, Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Islamic Religious Affairs; Distinguished Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon; Hon. Prince Bayo Osiyemi; Hon. Nureni Akinsanya (Osmark); Alhaja Bola Ajala; Hon. Yemi Alli, Member of the Federal House of Representatives (Mushin 02); and Mrs. Sherifat Obafemi Hamzat.
