UPDATE: Hon. Damilare Bello, 5 Others Discharged And Acquitted Of All Charges

The Honourable representing Offin, Sagamu 1 State Constituency in the 10th Ogun State House of Assembly, Omooba Damilare Mohammed Bello, and five others have been discharged and acquitted of all charges related to the unrest and mayhem that occurred in Sagamu during a hunger protest last September.

The protest, sparked by secret cult killings in the region, led to widespread violence and the deaths of several youths. Hon. Dre Bello and his co-accused were arrested by the Department of State Security (DSS), with reports that the police obstructed the DSS investigation by unlawfully searching Hon. Damilare Bello’s house without a warrant.

“Immediately after the DSS concluded their investigations, the police charged us without any substantial evidence linking us to the incident,” Honourable Dre Bello said. “We were taken to court in connection with the case.”

However, after thorough investigations and legal proceedings, the court found no evidence linking them to the crimes. In a ruling delivered today, Wednesday, 11th September 2024, the court discharged and acquitted Bello and his co-accused of all charges, bringing an end to the lengthy and highly publicized case.

Below are the names of those charged, discharged, and acquitted of all charges:

– Omooba Damilare Mohammed Bello
– Oluwatobiloba Owoade
– Debo Animashaun
– Engr. Wale Otesanya
– Mr. Onitiri
– Mr. Salau Saidi

This development is seen as a major victory for Hon. Damilare Mohammed Bello and his supporters, who have maintained their innocence throughout the ordeal
