The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for Yewa North/Imeko-Afon Federal Constituency, Oluwadara Kehinde, has felicitated teachers across the constituency and Nigeria on the occasion of the 2026 World Teachers’ Day.

Kehinde described teachers as critical builders of society, noting that their contributions extend beyond the classroom to shaping the character, knowledge and future of the younger generation.

In a message marking the celebration, the NDC candidate commended teachers for their dedication, patience and commitment to educating children and preparing them to contribute meaningfully to society.

He said no nation could achieve sustainable development without a strong and properly supported education system, stressing that teachers must be given the necessary tools, conducive working environments and welfare packages to perform their responsibilities effectively.

According to him, teachers deserve greater recognition for the sacrifices they make daily, particularly those serving in rural communities and areas where access to educational resources remains a challenge.

Kehinde called for stronger investment in education, improved teachers’ welfare and continuous professional development, saying such measures would strengthen the quality of learning and improve educational outcomes.

He also urged teachers in Yewa North and Imeko-Afon to remain encouraged by the knowledge that their efforts are helping to shape the next generation of leaders, professionals and community builders.

“On this World Teachers’ Day, I celebrate our teachers for the lives they touch, the minds they shape and the future they help to build. Your work is one of the most important investments any society can make in its future.

“We must continue to support and appreciate our teachers because when we invest in them, we are investing in the future of our children and the development of our communities,” he said.

Kehinde wished teachers across Yewa North, Imeko-Afon and Nigeria a happy and fulfilling World Teachers’ Day celebration.
