Sagamu Chairman Disowns ‘Task Force’ Demanding Ticket Fees From Drivers

The Executive Chairman of Sagamu Local Government, Ogbeni Jubril Olasile Odulate, has disowned a purported task force allegedly deployed to collect ticket fees from commercial drivers in the area.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Odulate said his attention was drawn to a circulating video and social media posts claiming that the local government had authorized a team to demand money from drivers.
The chairman categorically denied giving any such directive.
“I wish to state clearly that I did not authorize any such task force, and no directive was given by the Local Government for the collection of ticket money from drivers,” the statement read.
Odulate warned that any individuals or groups parading themselves as representatives of the local government to carry out such collections are acting illegally and without his approval.
He advised members of the public, particularly commercial drivers, not to comply with any such demands.
“Anyone found engaging in this act should be apprehended and handed over to the appropriate authorities, while my office should be promptly notified,” Odulate said.
The chairman reaffirmed his commitment to transparency, order, and the protection of residents from unlawful activities.
