Remo North APC Endorses Adebiyi Adeleye As Sole Candidate For Reps Bye-Election

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Remo North Local Government has officially endorsed Hon. Adebiyi Adeleye as its sole candidate for the forthcoming bye-election for the Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency.

The decision was reached at a crucial meeting held today at the APC Secretariat in Isara, where key party stakeholders unanimously backed Adeleye, who currently serves as the Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun.

This development follows the passing of Hon. Adewunmi Onanuga, the late Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, who represented the constituency until her demise on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, after a brief illness.

The meeting was attended by prominent APC leaders, including the Remo North APC Chairman, Otunba Muyiwa Sobade; the Local Government Chairman, Hon. Muyiwa Sodade; his Vice, Olu Soyemi; the immediate past council boss, Hon. Dapo Odunsi; Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Otunba Dare Odufowokan; APC State Executive Committee member, Elder Akin Arikawe; as well as all local government party executives, ward chairmen, women leaders, youth leaders, and other stakeholders.

The motion to adopt Adeleye as the preferred candidate was moved by Hon. Yusuf Soyemi and seconded by Omo’Oba Abiola Ogundeko. The endorsement was subsequently ratified by all attendees.

Speaking on the endorsement, Hon. Dapo Odunsi commended the party for its unity and strategic decision, emphasizing the historical underrepresentation of Remo North in the House of Representatives.

“Ikenne and Sagamu have had their fair share, spending 12 and 10 years respectively. It is time for Remo North to take its rightful place in the federal legislature,” he said. He further urged all residents, irrespective of party affiliations, to unite behind the cause.

Also addressing the gathering, Local Government Chairman Hon. Muyiwa Sodade underscored the significance of Adeleye’s candidacy. “This endorsement is a reflection of the people’s desire for a leader who understands and genuinely represents the interests of Remo North and Remoland as a whole,” he stated.
