Odulate Presents N14.16bn “Budget Of Hope” To Sagamu Legislative Council

The Executive Chairman of Sagamu Local Government, Ogbeni Jubril Olasile Odulate, on Tuesday presented a ₦14.16 billion Year 2026 Appropriation Bill, tagged “Budget of Hope,” to the Sagamu Local Government Legislative Council.

The budget was presented at a plenary session of the council held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, in the presence of councillors, party leaders, stakeholders, and members of the press.

Odulate said the 2026 budget reflects his administration’s resolve to improve the living standards of residents and accelerate development across communities in the local government area. He explained that the budget focuses on infrastructural development, education, economic empowerment, security, and social welfare, with priority attention to road construction and rehabilitation, renovation of public schools, youth empowerment programmes, ICT training, and enhanced support for women, children, and the elderly.

The chairman also reviewed the performance of the 2025 budget, disclosing that the local government projected a revenue of ₦10.87 billion, out of which ₦5.38 billion was realised as at October 2025, representing 49 per cent performance. He noted that statutory allocation accounted for ₦5.24 billion of the revenue, while internally generated revenue stood at ₦135.47 million within the same period.

On expenditure, Odulate said the local government expended ₦3.69 billion as at October 2025, representing 34 per cent budget performance, adding that capital expenditure recorded low implementation due to revenue constraints.

For the 2026 fiscal year, he disclosed that the local government expects ₦12.2 billion from federal statutory allocation, ₦550 million from Value Added Tax, ₦50 million from excess crude revenue, ₦1 billion in grants from the Ogun State Government, ₦314.06 million from internally generated revenue, and ₦50 million from capital receipts, bringing the total projected revenue to ₦14.16 billion.

He explained that the 2026 budget is a balanced budget, with proposed revenue equal to expenditure. According to him, ₦1.94 billion has been allocated to personnel costs, ₦941.9 million to overhead costs, ₦5.63 billion to consolidated revenue fund charges, and ₦5.65 billion to capital expenditure.

Odulate expressed optimism that the increased capital allocation would translate into visible development across Sagamu Local Government and appealed to the legislative council for the timely consideration and passage of the appropriation bill, assuring residents of transparent, inclusive, and people-oriented governance.
