Obasa Declares Superiority Over Tinubu, Sanwo-Olu In Governing Lagos
2 min readThe Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has declared himself more competent than all past and present governors of the state. He made this bold statement during his remarks at the presentation of the Year 2025 budget by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Thursday, November 21.
In Obasa’s words, “To the blackmailers who have embarked on a mission to distort and redefine our goals, let me state unequivocally here: our mission is to promote our party on the platform of the Mandate Movement. Becoming Governor is secondary and something I have not given serious consideration to. However, this does not mean I am too young or lack the experience to run. In fact, those who came before me are not better than I am.”
The six-term lawmaker also openly lamented plans to impeach him, vowing to resist any efforts to force him out of office.
“Let me emphasise that those who live in glass houses must not throw stones, as the saying goes. This reminds me of a saying from our people: ‘eni ba yara logun ngbe,’ meaning the god of iron favours the swift. In other words, those facilitating or planning to interfere in this House or disrupt its cohesion should be prepared to face the same fate.”
Observers of Lagos State politics, particularly within the All Progressives Congress (APC), note that Obasa is aggressively pushing a pan-Lagos agenda through his “Muda Eko, Obasa Lagos” movement. His campaign structure and outreach have drawn significant attention and stirred tension within the party’s ranks.
