Oba Elegushi Clarifies Sam Larry’s Role, Calls For Probe Into Mohbad’s Death
The Elegushi Royal Family of the Ikate-Elegushi Kingdom, Lagos State, has issued a statement distancing themselves from socialite Samson Balogun, known as Sam Larry.
In the statement, the royal family clarified that Sam Larry’s interactions with them were limited to paying homage to the king and seeking blessings, just like any other member of the public.
They also extended their condolences to the family of the late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Olademeji Aloba, aka Mohbad, and called for a thorough investigation into his death.
The statement emphasized, “Samson Balogun [Sam Larry] is not a member of the royal family and does not work for the royal family or the king in any capacity. Like other celebrities, politicians, religious, and community leaders, he visits the palace to pay homage to the king and seek royal blessings, just like any other member of the public.”
Readership NG reported that Sam Larry, associated with Mohbad’s former record label boss, Naira Marley, faced criticism on social media after a video showed him and his associates disrupting Mohbad’s video shoot with Zlatan Ibile.
Mohbad passed away on September 10, 2023, less than a year after parting ways with the Naira Marley-owned Marlian Music record label.
