BREAKING: Tinubu Nominates New CBN Governor, Other Management Team
President Bola Tinubu has taken a significant step toward shaping the economic future of Nigeria by nominating Dr. Olayemi Michael Cardoso as the new Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Readership NG reports.
This announcement marks a pivotal moment in the country’s monetary policy, with Dr. Cardoso set to lead the CBN for an initial term of five years, subject to confirmation by the Nigerian Senate.

The decision to appoint Dr. Cardoso aligns with the legal framework established in Section 8 (1) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007. According to this section, the authority to appoint the CBN Governor and four Deputy Governors lies with the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, contingent upon Senate confirmation.
In addition to nominating Dr. Cardoso for the top post at the CBN, President Tinubu has also put forward four candidates for the position of Deputy Governors, all subject to Senate confirmation. These individuals are:
1. Mrs. Emem Nnana Usoro
2. Mr. Muhammad Sani Abdullahi Dattijo
3. Mr. Philip Ikeazor
4. Dr. Bala M. Bello
