National Police Day: Ondo Command Takes Safety Campaign To Streets And Airwaves

The Ondo State Police Command has stepped up its community sensitization efforts as part of activities marking the ongoing National Police Day celebration, engaging key stakeholders across the state on issues of public safety and crime prevention.

On the third day of the programme, officers of the Command carried out widespread outreach targeting commercial drivers, motorcycle riders, and market women at major motor parks and marketplaces. The initiative focused on educating participants on critical issues including crime prevention, the dangers of jungle justice, and the importance of collaboration with law enforcement agencies.

During the engagements, residents were also sensitized on the need to adhere to traffic regulations, maintain personal security awareness, and promptly report suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.

In a bid to reach a broader audience, the Police Public Relations Officer, , extended the campaign to the airwaves through an interactive programme on Positive FM 102.5 in Akure. The session provided listeners with insights into the role of the Police, ongoing reforms within the Force, and the significance of community policing. It also featured a question-and-answer segment, allowing members of the public to seek clarification on security-related concerns.

The Commissioner of Police in the state reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to strengthening police-community relations and ensuring the safety of lives and property. He urged residents to support security agencies by providing credible and timely information that could aid crime prevention and detection.

The Command reiterated its dedication to proactive policing, noting that it would continue to engage communities through multiple platforms to build trust and enhance public safety across Ondo State.
