June 12: Our Heroes’ Sacrifices Must Never Be Forgotten, Says Odulate

The Executive Chairman of Sagamu Local Government, Ogbeni Jubril Olasile Odulate, has described June 12 as a powerful symbol of the people’s voice, courage and unwavering belief in democratic governance.

In a Democracy Day message issued on Thursday, Odulate paid tribute to the men and women whose sacrifices paved the way for Nigeria’s democratic journey, noting that their commitment and resilience secured the freedoms citizens enjoy today.

According to him, the significance of June 12 extends beyond remembrance, serving as a reminder that nation-building is a collective responsibility that requires dedication, unity and patriotism from all Nigerians.

“The labour of our heroes past shall never be in vain. Their legacy lives on in every democratic process, every vote cast, and every effort made towards a better Nigeria,” he said.

The council chairman called on residents of Sagamu and Nigerians across the country to continue supporting initiatives that promote national unity, sustainable development and good governance.

He expressed optimism about the future of the country, urging citizens to remain committed to the ideals of democracy and work together toward building a more prosperous society.

Odulate further stated that Democracy Day should inspire renewed hope among Nigerians and strengthen their resolve to create a nation where peace, progress and opportunities are available to all.

He wished residents of Sagamu and Nigerians a happy Democracy Day celebration.
