IGP Disu’s Intelligence-Led Policing Scores Big As Imo Police Arrest Seven Suspected Armed Robbers

The crime-fighting vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, continues to yield significant results across the country as operatives of the Imo State Police Command have dismantled a suspected armed robbery syndicate, arresting seven suspects and recovering firearms and ammunition in a series of intelligence-led operations.
The operation, carried out by officers of the Ihiagwa Police Division and the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, underscores the IGP’s unwavering commitment to intelligence-led policing, proactive crime prevention, and ensuring that criminal elements have no safe haven anywhere in Nigeria.
The breakthrough followed a complaint lodged on July 18, 2026, by a student of the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, who reported being robbed at gunpoint along FUTO Road in Ihiagwa, Owerri West Local Government Area. Acting swiftly on credible intelligence, police operatives arrested three suspects on July 28, 2026, identified as Stanley Nwachukwu (26), Moses Okezie (28), and Gabriel Confidence (26).
Further investigations allegedly linked the suspects to the Vikings Confraternity. Their confessional statements led investigators to four additional suspects—Emeka Oguike (28), Gideon Kadiri (21), Nnodim David (21), and Kingsley Okwara (22)—who were arrested at different locations as police intensified efforts to dismantle the criminal network.
A search conducted during the operation led to the recovery of one cut-to-size English-made single-barrel gun, one locally made revolver pistol, one locally made single-barrel gun, and four rounds of live cartridges. Police said efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the syndicate.
Speaking on the development, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, commended the professionalism, courage, and swift response of the operatives, describing the operation as further proof of the effectiveness of intelligence-led policing.
The IGP reaffirmed that the Nigeria Police Force remains resolute in its determination to rid communities of armed robbers, cultists, kidnappers, and other violent criminals. He urged members of the public to continue partnering with the police by providing timely, credible, and actionable information, stressing that effective policing is a shared responsibility.
Also commenting on the successful operation, the Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Audu Garba Bosso, commended the officers involved and reiterated the Command’s commitment to sustaining the ongoing crackdown on cultism, armed robbery, and other violent crimes across the state.
