Gov. Abiodun Brokers Peace, Unites APC Leaders In Remo North
2 min readThe Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, convened a crucial reconciliation meeting with notable leaders, party executives, and stakeholders to address internal conflicts within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Remo North Local Government.
The meeting aimed to reconcile aggrieved party members following tensions that arose after the last general elections.
The fallout began after Hon. Adebiyi Adeleye lost his bid for a seat in the Ogun State House of Assembly. Adeleye had accused several party leaders and stakeholders of working against his candidacy, which led to a rift within the local chapter. Party leaders, in response, refuted his claims, pointing instead to Adeleye’s alleged control over election logistics and his past actions, which were reportedly unpopular with local residents.
Despite the fallout, Adeleye managed to secure political appointments for his faction within the Abiodun-led administration, further straining relations among party members. The recently concluded local government primaries saw political positions split between Adeleye’s group and the main faction, exacerbating divisions.
In a bid to restore unity, Governor Abiodun stepped in with a leadership intervention. During the reconciliation meeting, he urged all factions to work together for the greater good of the APC and his administration. The governor also reaffirmed Senator Dipo Odujinrin, MFR, as the Apex Leader of the APC in Remo North, urging party elders to put past grievances behind them, particularly in relation to Adeleye.
Speaking after the meeting, Otunba Muyiwa Sobambo, the APC Chairman in Remo North Local Government, praised the governor’s efforts. “While I cannot disclose the full details of the discussions, the governor emphasized peace and unity within the party. He reaffirmed Senator Odujinrin’s leadership, and all party issues will be resolved. The APC is a big family, and any past disagreements will soon be forgotten.”
Sobambo also dismissed rumors of his removal as party chairman, stating that those matters had been resolved. He expressed gratitude to Governor Abiodun for playing a fatherly role in ensuring peace within the local chapter.
“To demonstrate our commitment to unity, we fully support Hon. Olumuyiwa Sodade and Olumide Shoyemi as the next Chairman and Vice Chairman of Remo North Local Government in the upcoming elections,” Sobambo added. “By God’s grace and with the support of our people, all our councillor candidates will emerge victorious.”
