The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ifo Constituency II, Ogun State, has inaugurated its campaign council ahead of the 2027 general elections, with its House of Assembly candidate, Hon. Omotunde Ayoade (JP), urging members to remain focused and strengthen their engagement with residents across the constituency.
The inauguration took place at Ayoade’s campaign office in Agbado, with party leaders and campaign coordinators from the six wards in attendance. The event was anchored by Hon. Rashidi Kilani.
Speaking at the event, Ayoade urged members of the campaign council not to be distracted by what he described as the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)’s negative campaign tactics.
He expressed confidence in the PDP’s preparations for the 2027 elections, particularly regarding the candidacy of its Ogun State governorship candidate, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu.
“There is no cause for alarm over Adebutu’s candidacy. They said Senator Iyabo’s name and my name would not appear on the INEC list, but today, we can see that our names are on the list. Our principal’s name will also be there when the final list is released,” Ayoade said.
The PDP candidate urged party members to remain steadfast and confident, stressing the need to concentrate on their preparations rather than be distracted by controversies surrounding the electoral process.
Ayoade clarified that the inauguration was not a campaign rally but an opportunity to outline his vision and priorities for Ifo Constituency II ahead of the elections.
“Today is not a campaign rally, but it is important to let you know what I stand for. My focus will be on credible legislation, women and youth empowerment, employment opportunities, and ensuring that our people enjoy the dividends of democracy,” he said.
He added that his legislative priorities would centre on addressing the needs of residents, creating opportunities for women and young people, and promoting community development.
Earlier, the PDP Chairman in Ifo Local Government, Hon. Olalekan Olufemi (SA), charged members of the campaign council to remain committed to the party’s campaign efforts. He criticised the APC’s performance, arguing that the ruling party had little to present to voters ahead of the 2027 elections.
Hon. Adeniyi Adedeji urged members to adopt a house-to-house campaign strategy, while party leader, Chief Musibau Odedeyi, popularly known as Oluwo, called for unity and commitment among party members.
Olufemi subsequently administered the oath of office to members of the campaign council.
Those present included the PDP Central Senatorial Woman Leader, Chief Mrs Adekale Abeni Olokun; party leaders; ward chairmen; women and youth representatives; and campaign coordinators from the six wards in Ifo Constituency II.
