Splash FM, Family FM Renew Rivalry At Ogun SWAN/Oluwalogbon Electronics Media Cup Final
2 min readThe 2024 edition of SWAN Media Cup tagged SWAN/Oluwalogbon Electronics Media Cup has entered its final stage.
Defending Champions of the 2023 edition, Splash FM defeated the OGTV team 3 to 1 on penalty shootout after a stalemate at the duration time.
OGTV failed to seal off the match in the first half after many failed scoring chances.
The defending champions who had no goal on target throughout the entire duration curtailed the high pressing ball of the OGTV side with their tenacity and zealousness.
Splash FM who qualified as best loser from the group stage, struggled to beat Eagle FM, Ijebu-Ode 1 nil in the quarter final to qualify for the semi final against OGTV who beat Fresh FM 3-2.
Family FM continued their impressive run in the competition having lost out in the quarter final against Wise FM in the last year’s edition.
The Kilasho boys were impressive from the beginning of the competition edging out Fresh FM 6-2 on aggregate before walloping Ogun State Information Officers 3-1 in the quarter final.
Family FM proved their superiority over under dog of the competition, Consolidated Chapel of Ogun NUJ with a comfortable 2 nil win in the semi final match to set up the final with Splash FM on Friday, 21st June, 2024 at the fun turf of the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta.
Addressing journalists, the State Chairman, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Comrade Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji commended all participating media stations for their support and teamwork.
Ogunsiji enjoined the finalists to display good football and play safe.
He urged all media stations to give the final ceremony maximum publicity.
He noted that, the Commissioner for Sports Development in the state, Hon. Wasiu Isiaka, Special Adviser to the Governor on information and strategy, Hon. Kayode Akinmade and Minority Leader of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Lukmon Adeleye are expected to grace the closing ceremony on Friday.
Other dignitaries billed for the final are, the Head of Service in Ogun state, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, Permanent Secretary, Ogun State Service matters, Barr. Dip Ogunfowora, Chairman of Obafemi-Owode local government, Hon. Adeshina Ogunsola and his counterpart from Odeda local government, Dr. Folashade Adeyemo are also expected at the final.
