Senator Yayi Donates Bus, Millions To Support Film Makers In Ogun

As part of his efforts to empower communities and promote cultural development, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, also known as Yayi, representing Ogun West Senatorial District, made a generous contribution to the creative sector on Wednesday. He donated a brand-new 18-seater Toyota bus along with financial support running into millions of naira to members of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN).

This presentation came shortly after Senator Yayi was formally installed as the Grand Patron of TAMPAN in Ogun State during the Ogun Annual Theatre Fiesta, which featured a lecture and award ceremony in Ilaro.

During the honorary decoration, TAMPAN’s Global President, Otunba Bolaji Amusan, expressed appreciation for the senator’s consistent efforts in supporting underprivileged individuals.

“We gathered here today to celebrate a performer, a visioner, and exemplary leader, an unapologetic philanthropist, a cheerful giver who has changed the face of politics in Ogun state. We gathered here to commend him for his good work in Yewaland and to encourage him to do more.

“This is important because many of his colleagues who have the same opportunity are not doing what Senator Yayi is doing. If we have 100 of Senator Yayi in Nigeria, there would be less hunger and poverty in the country.

In his response, Senator Adeola attributed his dedication to public service to his upbringing and the everyday realities of those he represents.

An admirer of Yoruba culture and the local film industry, Senator Yayi acknowledged the vital role entertainment plays in national development. He also pledged to champion policies that combat piracy and promote fair compensation for creatives.

“The creative industry deserves more recognition and support,” he said. “We will work to strengthen copyright protections and push for improved funding under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. This is just the beginning.”
