Sanwo-Olu Unveils Palliative Measures to Mitigate Effects of Fuel Subsidy Removal
1 min readIn response to the recent removal of fuel subsidy, Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has taken swift action to mitigate its impact on the residents of the state.
The governor in a broadcast on Monday, announced a series of palliative measures aimed at easing the burden on citizens and providing much-needed relief during these challenging times.
One of the key measures is a significant reduction in transportation costs. Starting from Wednesday, there will be a 50% reduction in fares for Lagos Buses, making public transportation more affordable and accessible to commuters across the state.
Additionally, to alleviate the financial strain on passengers, the governor has directed the official body of Yellow buses to announce a 25% reduction in their fees soon.
Recognizing the importance of providing adequate transportation options for civil servants, Governor Sanwo-Olu also announced plans to increase the number of buses in the Staff Bus fleet.
This move aims to facilitate the easy movement of civil servants to and from their workplaces, ensuring a seamless work routine despite the changes in fuel prices.
Furthermore, the governor expressed his commitment to support vulnerable families during this period of transition. As part of the palliative measures, raw food items will be distributed to poor and vulnerable families across Lagos State.
