Sagamu LG Holds Strategic Budget Retreat For 2025

In a move to strengthen fiscal discipline and advance developmental goals, Sagamu Local Government held its 2025 Budget Retreat with directors of departments and members of the executive cabinet in full attendance.

The retreat, spearheaded by the Department of Budget Planning, Research, and Statistics under the leadership of Mrs. Akinbamisile A.O., featured a formal presentation and review of the proposed draft budget for the year 2025.

Discussions during the session focused heavily on strategies to improve revenue generation and expand the council’s capacity for project delivery. Directors of various departments offered key inputs, reflecting a collective push toward efficiency and innovation.

Alhaji Balogun Akeem, Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA), emphasized that “every department has revenue-generating potential—if only we identify and tap into existing gaps.”

Mrs. Akinbamisile echoed the importance of fiscal prudence, urging the team to maintain a realistic, balanced budget capable of producing a positive variance by year-end.

To ensure cohesion in governance, departmental heads were encouraged to engage with their corresponding political appointees. These strategic alignments are expected to streamline priorities and strengthen execution in the coming fiscal year.

In his closing remarks, Executive Chairman Ogbeni Afolabi Odulate thanked both executive and administrative teams for their active participation. He expressed satisfaction with the retreat’s success, noting that this was the first time it was held outside the Local Government Secretariat.

“The new setting offered a refreshing atmosphere,” Ogbeni Odulate remarked, “and going forward, we’ll continue to explore such innovations to promote openness and better planning.”
