Sagamu LG Holds Emergency Security Meeting, Issues New Directives To Curb Insecurity

In a proactive move to address rising security concerns, the Sagamu Local Government Authority on Tuesday convened an emergency security meeting involving all security agencies operating within the area. The meeting, held at the council secretariat, was presided over by the Vice Chairman, Comrade Isiaka Salami, who represented the Executive Chairman currently away on official duties.

The session reviewed recent incidents of burglary, unrest, and other activities threatening public safety across communities in Sagamu. After extensive deliberations, the council and security stakeholders agreed on a set of measures aimed at restoring peace and strengthening community protection.

Among the resolutions reached are the following:

Motorcycles and tricycles are now restricted to operate only between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. daily.

The use of knockouts and fireworks during the festive season is banned across the local government area.

Organizers of all-night public gatherings, social events, or religious programmes must obtain security clearance from the police before holding such events.

CDC and CDA chairmen are mandated to collaborate closely with local security outfits to enhance community surveillance and response.

Residents are urged to promptly report suspicious activities, while individuals spreading false information or rumours capable of causing panic especially on social media will face prosecution.

The Joint Security Task Force has since intensified 24-hour patrol operations across Sagamu, with warnings that violators of the new directives will be apprehended and prosecuted accordingly.

The council appealed to residents to support the ongoing efforts to safeguard lives and property, reiterating the importance of community vigilance.

“If you see something, say something,” the authority emphasized.
