Sagamu LG Chairman, Odulate Marks Democracy Day With Powerful Message

As Nigeria marks Democracy Day, the Executive Chairman of Sagamu Local Government, Ogbeni Jubril Olasile Odulate, has called on citizens and leaders alike to reflect on the sacrifices and courage of those who fought for the nation’s democratic journey.
In a heartfelt statement, Odulate described democracy as “more than a system” but rather a “hard-earned voice”—one that echoes in every street, home, and ballot box across the country.
“On this day, we are not just marking a date in history,” he said. “We are reflecting on the journey of people who refused to be silenced. Our duty as leaders is to honour that voice not only with policies, but with purpose and presence.”
He emphasized that governance in Sagamu must always mirror the true aspirations of its people.
“Every decision we take, every project we pursue, and every promise we make must reflect the will and welfare of the people. That is the spirit of democracy,” he added.
The chairman praised the unwavering spirit of citizens who continue to believe in the power of civic engagement, singling out voters, community leaders, and the youth.
He concluded with a rallying call for collective progress, “Let’s keep moving forward together, and for each other, so that the labours of our heroes past will never be in vain.”
