1 min read

President Bola Tinubu will depart Abuja, the nation’s capital, for Lagos State on Friday ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir festival.

He added that the President will mark the occasion with prayers and reflection on advancing the transformation of Nigeria in line with his Renewed Hope Agenda.

Saudi Arabia had earlier announced June 16 as Sallah day following the sighting of the Dhul Hijjah crescent, signalling the beginning of the 12th Islamic month.

Eid ul-Adha is celebrated by Muslims all around the world on the tenth day of Dhu al-Hijjah (the twelfth month of the Islamic lunar calendar)

It is the second major Islamic festival celebrated by Muslims after Eid-ul-Fitr.

In an announcement last week Thursday, Saudi said consequently, Friday will mark the beginning of the holy month.

The development brings the Muslim biggest festival, Eid Al-Adha, to be observed on Sunday, June 16, 2024.

The Arafat Day, which precedes the festival, will fall on June 15.
