Political Bigwigs Gather In Mushin To Bid Farewell To Alhaja Tawakalitu Oyedele

The Mushin Local Government area witnessed the convergence of political leaders and dignitaries as the body of Alhaja Tawakalitu Olusola Oyedele, fondly known as Iya Luku, was laid to rest on Saturday, September 7, 2024.

Iya Luku, a prominent figure within the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Principal Coordinator of The Mandate Movement in Mushin and Odi-Olowo, passed away in the early hours of Saturday. Her funeral drew top political figures, who gathered at her Adeyemi Street residence to pay their final respects.

Among the dignitaries in attendance were the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat; APC Apex Leader in Mushin and Odi Olowo, Senator Ganiyu Solomon; Member of the House of Representatives (Mushin 01), Hon. Adeyemi Alli; and Lagos State Chairman of The Mandate Movement, Abdullahi Ayinde Enilolobo.

Also present were Hon. Toyin Fayinka (Member House of Representatives, Mushin 02), Hon. Nureni Akinsanya (Lagos State House of Assembly, Mushin Constituency 01), Hon. Yinka Kazeem (Mushin Constituency 02), Executive Chairman of Mushin Local Government, Hon. Emmanuel Bamigboye, and his counterpart from Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, Rasaq Ajala, also in attendance are the members of the State Mandate Movement CWC Mushin and Odi-Olowo, Prince Adewale Arogundade and Hon. Yinka Falade.

The funeral service, led by the Chief Imam of Mushin, Alhaji Sheikh Sulaimon Olanijo, was a solemn occasion. Family members, close friends, and political allies gathered for prayers before her body was interred at her residence.

The Vice Chairman of Mushin Local Government, Hon. Tunbosun Aruwe; House Leader, Hon. Olawale Ayegbayo, along with his colleagues in the chamber; Secretary to the Local Government, Mrs. Olubunmi Gbadamosi; and several former councilors, supervisors, and special advisers were also in attendance.

The APC family in Mushin, including the LGA chairman, the APC Woman Leader, Ward Chairmen, and party loyalists from across Lagos, turned out in large numbers to bid farewell to a woman they described as a political powerhouse and a mother figure to many.

Alhaja Tawakalitu Olusola Oyedele’s contributions to the APC and her community will be remembered fondly by all.
