Taiwo Hassan, Nollywood actor popularly known as ‘Ogogo’, was laid to rest in his hometown of Ilaro, Ogun, on Monday.
Jide Kosoko and Yinka Quadri, two of Ogogo’s closest associates, were also present, along with Fathia Balogun, Fausat Balogun, and Toyosi Adesanya, among others.
The occasion was gloomy with tears as the late actor was buried according to Islamic rites, while his former colleagues performed emotional chants mourning the passing of a legend.
His death came about a week after his daughters announced he had been diagnosed with stage-four cancer, which had affected his abdomen, and appealed for medical assistance.
Ogogo was known for his work in Yoruba-language films and had a career spanning more than four decades. He also featured in Kunle Afolayan’s 2022 Netflix film ‘Aníkúlápó’, alongside actors including Sola Sobowale, Kunle Remi and Bimbo Ademoye.
