PDP Accuses Abiodun Of Vindictiveness Over Removal Of Transformer In Ikenne

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State has accused Governor Dapo Abiodun of “vindictiveness” following the reported removal of a 500KVA transformer donated to Itun Moro community in Ikenne by its governorship candidate in the last election, Hon. Dr. Oladipupo Olatunde Adebutu.
In a statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Otunba Arc. Kayode Adebayo, the opposition party described the development as “a stark display of disregard for the welfare of the people” and another example of what it called the governor’s “deep-seated hatred for the common good of Ogun citizens.”
The PDP recalled that residents of Itun Moro had been in darkness for over four years and had made repeated appeals to both the state and local governments without success. The party said relief only came after Adebutu, through the Ladi Adebutu Development Organization (LADO), provided a new transformer on August 6, 2025.
The opposition, however, alleged that officials of the Abiodun-led administration moved to take away the transformer because it was donated by Adebutu.
“This act of callous irresponsibility is not unexpected. Governor Abiodun has developed a notorious reputation for political vendetta and disregard for the people, as witnessed during the violence that marred the bye-election in Remoland on August 16,” the statement read.

While condemning the alleged removal attempt, the PDP commended the residents of Itun Moro for resisting what it described as “senseless invaders,” and urged them to remain calm. The party also encouraged communities across Ogun State to safeguard donated infrastructure against what it termed “a new wave of government-sponsored sabotage.”

According to the statement, Adebutu has donated nearly 1,000 units of 500KVA transformers to various communities in Ogun State over the last decade to tackle the state’s lingering power challenges.

The party concluded by warning that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) administration “appears determined to add stealing of LADO transformers to its record of incompetence and failures.”
