Ondo Gov, Lucky Aiyedatiwa Signs 2024 Budget Into Law
2 min readThe Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has officially signed the 2024 appropriation bill into law after it was passed by the Ondo State House of Assembly.
The budget, tagged ‘Budget of Economic Resilience,’ received careful consideration and scrutiny before being passed by the legislative body.
Governor Aiyedatiwa, who had presented a sum of N384.5 billion to the Assembly last week when he was the acting governor, witnessed an increase in the approved budget, as the House passed a sum of N395.257 billion.
This adjustment indicated an addition of over N10 billion to the initial amount presented.
In the signed budget, a substantial portion of N222,259,827,500.00 is earmarked for capital expenditure, representing 56.23%, while recurrent expenditure is allocated N172,997,172,500.00, representing 43.77%.
The governor acknowledged the thorough examination of the budget by the House, stating, “After extensive deliberation involving an interface with all MDAs and the judiciary, the size of the approved budget for 2024 stands at N395,257,000,000.00 only.”
He further expressed appreciation for the diligence of the state House of Assembly in the prompt passage of the appropriation bill.
Governor Aiyedatiwa praised the collaborative and cordial relationship between the executive and legislative arms, emphasizing its positive impact on the state’s development and the fulfillment of promises made to the people.
“I must put on record that generally, this administration has enjoyed a very cordial relationship with the legislature, and this has enabled us to deliver considerably on our promises to our people. This is a good legacy of our dear Arakunrin (Akeredolu) which must be sustained,” he remarked.
