Olu Of Ifoland, Oba Samuel Atanda Oladipupo, Joins Ancestors

The ancient town of Ifo in Ogun State has been thrown into mourning following the passing of the Olu of Ifoland, His Royal Majesty, Oba Samuel Atanda Oladipupo JP, who joined his ancestors on Thursday, October 9, 2025.

The official announcement was contained in a letter from the Ifo Oba-in-Council to the Executive Chairman of Ifo Local Government, dated October 13, 2025, and signed by Chief Adisa Adeyemi, the Balogun of Ifoland.

According to the palace, traditional rites and Oro activities will be held from Tuesday, October 14 to Thursday, October 16, 2025, between the hours of 12:00 midnight and 3:00 a.m. daily, in accordance with Egba tradition and royal protocols.

The statement directed all Baales across the various communities in Ifoland to ensure peaceful and orderly conduct during the period of the rites. It also noted that a high-powered committee has been set up to oversee the process and ensure compliance with established Egba traditional standards.

Chief Adeyemi expressed appreciation to the local government chairman and residents for their expected cooperation and understanding, assuring that the council would continue to provide updates as events unfold.

The late monarch, Oba Oladipupo, was widely respected for his humility, wisdom, and commitment to the progress and unity of Ifoland. His passing marks the end of an era in the traditional leadership of the town.
