Ogun Police File Cyberbullying Charges Against Blogger @JustAdetoun
The Ogun State Police Command has filed a six-count charge against a social media blogger, Adetoun Onajobi, popularly known as @JustAdetoun, over alleged cyberbullying and related offences.
The charges, which are pending before the Abeokuta Division of the Federal High Court, are based on alleged violations of the Cybercrimes Act involving the publication of false information and online harassment.
According to the Police, Onajobi is accused of using social media and other internet-enabled platforms to circulate false allegations against the Ogun State Government and to cyberbully the Governor of Ogun State.
The Command disclosed that on January 2, 2026, the suspect was invited for questioning to enable her respond to allegations arising from her online activities. However, she failed to honour the invitation.
Police said the suspect, through her lawyer, claimed she was medically indisposed and unable to attend the interview, submitting a medical report allegedly issued by a doctor in support of the claim.
However, discreet investigations by the Police revealed that the medical report was false. The doctor who allegedly issued the report was subsequently arrested and confessed that the document was fabricated at the instruction of the suspect during a telephone conversation, reportedly facilitated by her lawyer.
Following the confession, the doctor was arraigned before an Ogun State Magistrates’ Court on charges bordering on conspiracy, uttering a false document, and obstruction of justice.
The Police said Adetoun Onajobi has remained evasive and has continued to ignore several invitations extended to her, adding that her whereabouts are currently unknown.
The Ogun State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to tackling all forms of crime, including digital and cyber-related offences, while respecting the constitutional rights of citizens. The Command noted that while freedom of expression is guaranteed, it does not extend to criminal conduct.
Police authorities also disclosed that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other individuals allegedly linked to the dissemination of false information aimed at obstructing investigations. They added that all lawful means would be deployed to arrest the suspect and produce her before the court to answer the charges filed against her.
