Ogun PDP Expresses Concerns Over N9bn Federal Funds Given To Abiodun’s Govt
The Ogun State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a press statement expressing concerns regarding the alleged misappropriation of Federal Allocation funds by the Dapo Abiodun-led administration.
The statement, attributed to Mr. Bayo Onanuga, a Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu, suggests that the Federal Government granted an additional allocation of 9 billion naira to the state for infrastructural development and youth empowerment.
While the PDP acknowledges Mr. Onanuga’s statement, which remains unrefuted by state authorities, the party spokesperson, Asiwaju Akinloye Bankole, emphasize the need for transparency in the utilization of these funds.
The party questions the lack of public disclosure by the state government regarding the purpose and disbursement of the new financial support.
Furthermore, the PDP criticizes the state’s purported infrastructural decay despite receiving substantial financial support, including 7 billion naira for infrastructural development and 2 billion naira as fuel subsidy relief.
The party insists that these resources should have been utilized for the benefit of the citizens, particularly during the dry season, providing an opportune time for road rehabilitation.
The press statement raises concerns about the accountability of the Abiodun-led administration and calls upon the State Assembly, led by Hon. Taiwo Olumo, to ensure transparency and hold the government accountable to the citizens.
The PDP emphasizes that public funds should be utilized for the development of the state, and Dapo Abiodun’s administration should prioritize the welfare of the people.
