Ogun PDP Celebrates Court Victory, Calls For Unity Among Party Members

The Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed gratitude and satisfaction following the judgment delivered by the Federal High Court sitting in Abeokuta in case number FHC/AB/CS/124/2024.

The case, filed by Chief F. I. Akande and others against the PDP and its representatives, was dismissed by the presiding judge, Hon. Justice A.J. Adeyemi, in a ruling described as a landmark decision.

The court upheld the PDP’s right to manage its internal affairs, including conducting party congresses, as provided by its constitution.

In a statement issued by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Otunba Arc. Kayode Adebayo, the PDP commended Justice Adeyemi for his courage in dismissing what it described as a “frivolous matter.” The judgment, the party noted, reaffirms the judiciary’s role in upholding democratic values and promoting effective party administration.

“This victory is not just for the Ogun State PDP but for internal democracy as a whole,” the statement read. The party also congratulated its State Working Committee, led by State Chairman Alhaji Abayomi Tella, and all party leaders and members for their patience and steadfastness during the judicial process.

In a call for unity, the PDP extended a hand of fellowship to aggrieved members, urging them to join forces to strengthen the party. The statement emphasized the party’s mission to address the “incompetence and irresponsibility” of the current administration under Governor Dapo Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The PDP encouraged its immediate past chairman, Alhaji Dr. Sikirulahi Olawale Ogundele, and his supporters to reconcile with the party’s renewed vision. “The umbrella is big enough to accommodate all legitimate interests,” the statement declared, signaling a readiness to welcome all members willing to contribute to the party’s growth.

As the PDP looks ahead, it remains focused on its goal of reclaiming power in Ogun State and delivering effective governance to the people.
