Ogun Govt Rallies Support For Super Falcons’ WAFCON Qualifier In Abeokuta

The Ogun State Government has called on football fans across the state and beyond to troop out in large numbers to support the Super Falcons as they play their 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifying match against the Women’s National Team of Benin Republic in Abeokuta.

The decisive encounter will take place on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena, Kuto, Abeokuta, with kick-off scheduled for 4 p.m.

Nigeria’s senior women’s national team, the Super Falcons, go into the tie with a strong advantage after securing a 2–0 victory over Benin Republic in the first leg of the qualifiers played on Friday, October 24, in Lomé, Togo.

In a statement issued by the Ogun State Commissioner for Sports Development, Hon. Wasiu Isiaka, the government urged residents to turn out en masse to cheer the team to victory, assuring fans of an exciting and memorable football experience.

“We are proud to host our African champions once again in Abeokuta. The Super Falcons have made Nigeria proud, and we encourage all lovers of the game to come out and show them massive support as they aim to qualify for WAFCON 2026,” the Commissioner said.

The Commissioner expressed optimism that the Ogun capital will witness an electric atmosphere on match day, adding that the government remains committed to promoting sports development and hosting national and international sporting events.
