Ogbeni Odulate Commissions IT Centre, Immortalises Late Onanuga In Sagamu

In a heartfelt ceremony filled with tributes and symbolism, the Executive Chairman of Sagamu Local Government, Ogbeni Jubril Olasile Odulate, has commissioned a brand-new IT Centre in honour of the late Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga, fondly known as Ijaya.
The commissioning marks the third in a series of development projects unveiled in the local government in recent days. Earlier that same day, the administration had also commissioned the Sagamu Legislative Building and the reconstructed Sode Street in Sabo, all under the administration’s development blueprint tagged #IgbegaIjobaIbileSagamu.
While addressing dignitaries, party faithful, and community members at the event, Odulate described the moment as more than just a project launch but a celebration of leadership, vision, and impact.
“Today is not just another day. It’s a day that reminds us of what true leadership, vision, and selflessness can birth,” Odulate said.
He hailed the late Onanuga for redefining representation and public service across Remo land, noting that her contributions empowered communities, gave voice to the voiceless, and raised the bar in grassroots governance.
Odulate specially acknowledged the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, for giving Onanuga the opportunity to serve and lead with purpose. He credited the governor for identifying her potential and enabling her to leave behind a legacy that continues to shape the Remo political landscape.
“You didn’t just appoint a woman; you empowered a force. And through her, you touched every part of Remo,” Odulate said, referring to the governor’s support for Ijaya during her lifetime.
He emphasized that the IT Centre stands not only as an infrastructural asset but also as a legacy hub that will empower Sagamu’s youth, bridge the digital divide, and keep Ijaya’s memory alive through action.
“Ijaya may have physically left us, but her dreams haven’t. She left behind a map, and we must not let that map gather dust,” he declared.
The Chairman concluded by urging political and community leaders to protect the late Onanuga’s legacy and ensure her blueprint for progress continues to guide the development of Sagamu and beyond.
The newly commissioned IT Centre is expected to serve as a digital empowerment hub, providing access to technology, digital literacy, and innovation for young people across the local government.
