Odulate Meets Occupants Over Encroached LG Land, Moves Toward Lawful Resolution

The Executive Chairman of Sagamu Local Government, Ogbeni Jubril Olasile Odulate, on Wednesday held a management meeting with key stakeholders to address the ongoing encroachment and unlawful occupation of land belonging to the Local Government.

The meeting, which took place in the Chairman’s Office, had in attendance the Local Government’s administrative heads, the Land Advisory Committee led by its Chairman, Bashorun Adebayo Awosanya, and several individuals currently occupying parts of the government land in question.

Discussions focused on establishing the true status of the land, engaging with the occupants, and outlining a clear pathway for resolving the illegal occupation in line with due process. During the engagement, the occupants openly admitted that they were on government property without any formal authorization. They acknowledged that their occupation had no legal backing and expressed regret, pleading with the Executive Chairman and the officials present for leniency.

In his response, Ogbeni Odulate commended them for their honesty but underscored the need to safeguard public property and uphold the rule of law. He assured all parties that the Local Government would handle the matter with fairness, guided strictly by legally approved procedures and the recommendations of the Land Advisory Committee.

The meeting ended with a collective understanding that further consultations would continue as the Local Government reviews appropriate and lawful steps, including possible timelines for compliance.
