NYCN VP Seeks Greater Govt Support For Youth Organisations, Commends CONYSSA
The National Vice President, South West Zone, of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Comrade Kehinde Damilola Olorunjubelo, has called for increased government support for youth-led organisations, describing them as crucial drivers of peacebuilding, innovation and national development.
Olorunjubelo made the call at the Ogun State Youths Multi-Stakeholder’s Security Summit on Social Vices, organised by the Coalition of Nigerian Youths on Security & Safety Affairs (CONYSSA) at the NUJ Hall, Iwe Iroyin, Abeokuta.
The summit drew a wide range of dignitaries, including Dr. Rotimi George-Taylor; HRM Olori Dr. Folashade Macgregor; senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force; representatives of the NSCDC; the Ogun State NYCN Chairman, Oloye Akolawole Soremi; the National Leader of CONYSSA, Amb. Ade Mario; and the Ogun State YAN Speaker, Rt. Hon. Oniyitan Ezekiel Akinbode Bodmas. Leaders of several youth-focused organisations were also in attendance.
In his remarks, Olorunjubelo commended CONYSSA for its sustained efforts in mobilising and sensitising young people on national security and civic responsibility. He also conveyed the appreciation of the NYCN National President, Comr. Isah Onimisi Babangida, to the organisation for its support during the recent National Liberation Congress in Abuja, which produced a new set of youth leaders.
The NYCN Vice President stressed that many youth-led groups are already working tirelessly—often with limited resources—to advance peace, drive innovation and address social issues. He noted that government support would strengthen their ability to deliver even greater impact.
The programme was held in collaboration with key national institutions, including the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, EFCC, NDLEA, Nigeria Police Force, NSCDC, FRSC, NOA and the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff.
Olorunjubelo expressed satisfaction with the quality of engagements at the summit and reaffirmed his commitment to amplifying youth voices and building strategic partnerships that promote security and empowerment across the South West and the country at large.
