NYCN Highlights ICT Training, Scholarships, And Advocacy At 2025 Ogun West Senatorial Meeting

On Thursday, 23rd January, all Youth Stakeholders, Heads of Organisations, Local Government Executives, and elders of the Youth Council were present at the first Senatorial Meeting of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) in the year 2025.

The Senatorial Meeting served as an avenue to assess the journey so far, outline the year’s activities, and discuss extensively issues concerning the Youths of Ogun West Senatorial District.

The Senatorial Youth Chairman, Comr. Kehinde Damilola Olorunjubelo, appreciated all stakeholders for their support and highlighted some activities the administration has accomplished, including training 50 youths on ICT programs (with the 2nd edition coming soon), facilitating scholarships for 48 students, providing financial support for the education of 13 students, organizing environmental sanitation across the five local governments of the Senatorial District, visiting the neglected Gateway Stadium in Ilaro, and submitting a working document on its revival. Other accomplishments included a medical outreach at Maun, Ipokia, in partnership with Rt. Hon. Abiodun Isiaq Akinlade, organizing the maiden Ogun West Youth Award, intervening in a total blackout affecting 21 communities in Ogun West, and signing agreements with key stakeholders involved, among others.

In their response, all leaders who had served the youth constituency meritoriously during their youthful years described the current state leadership as a “round peg in a round hole,” giving accolades for bringing together elders, stakeholders, and leaders who had previously served in the Youth Council.

A call was made to National Assembly representatives to address the abandoned Youth Development Centre in Ayetoro Yewa North, the Ogun West Youth Bus, and youth empowerment initiatives.

Members present at the meeting appreciated the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, and Yewa South Local Government political leaders for the appointment of Comr. Ayelaagbe Abdul-Jabar as the Secretary of Yewa South Local Government, expressing confidence in his excellent delivery.
