The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Ogun State House of Assembly, Ifo Constituency II, Hon. Omotunde Ayoade, JP, has called for better governance, greater accountability and improved living conditions as Nigeria marks its 66th Independence Anniversary.

Ayoade, in his Independence Day message, congratulated Nigerians and urged citizens to use the occasion to reflect on the country’s journey, achievements and challenges since independence.

He said the anniversary should go beyond celebrations, stressing the need for governments at all levels to address the challenges confronting Nigerians, particularly the rising cost of living, unemployment, insecurity and inadequate infrastructure.

“Independence Day is not only a time for celebration; it is also an opportunity to reflect on where we are as a nation and where we want to go,” Ayoade said.

According to him, Nigerians deserve leadership that listens to their concerns, protects their interests and creates an enabling environment for individuals and businesses to thrive.

“Our people are hardworking and resilient. What they need is leadership that is responsive, accountable and committed to improving their welfare,” he stated.

The PDP candidate also urged political leaders to place the welfare of citizens above personal and political interests, stressing that public office should be regarded as a responsibility to serve the people.

“Public office is a trust. Those entrusted with leadership must always remember that they are there to serve the people and not to serve themselves,” he added.

Ayoade urged Nigerians not to lose hope in the country, saying the resilience of citizens remained a source of strength in the face of prevailing challenges.

He reaffirmed his commitment to the people of Ifo Constituency II, saying his aspiration to represent them in the Ogun State House of Assembly was driven by a desire to contribute to meaningful development and effective representation.

He wished Nigerians a peaceful 66th Independence Anniversary and called for unity, responsible citizenship and renewed determination to build a nation where every citizen has an opportunity to prosper.
