Mandate Group Exonerates Lagos Governor, Sanwo-Olu From Illicit Activities
In a recent release, the Chairman of The Mandate Movement (TMM), Abdullahi Ayinde Enilolobo, declared that the Governor of Lagos, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has never been found wanting regarding corruption, financial misappropriation and running the government like his personal business. He reaffirmed the governor’s commitment to ethical governance and transparent administration.
The allegations by a Lagos lawyer, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), which had sparked public concern and media speculation, suggested that the governor was involved in illicit activities, including running of government alone. However, The Mandate Movement leadership has thoroughly debunked these claims, reinstating confidence in the governor’s leadership.
Enilolobo further revealed that the allegations against the governor were based on hearsay and lacked substantive proof. He said that the Nigerian Constitution is very clear that the governor has 60 days from May 29 to send his nominees for various cabinet offices to the House of Assembly for legislative approval. Therefore, he requested that everyone remain patient and await the governor’s list.
He said, “I assure the general public that Lagos state will continue to set the pace in governance at all levels, and I also urge wailers to exercise caution when reporting on sensitive matters that could potentially harm an individual’s reputation and undermine public trust”.
It is the goal of the All Progressive Congress (APC) led administration at all levels to ensure transparency, accountability, and good governance.
Enilolobo expressed gratitude for the diligent work done so far by the governor and reaffirmed the group’s commitment to servile the people of Lagos with integrity and dedication. Enilolobo also emphasized the importance of preserving public trust in the democratic process, highlighting the need for evidence-based claims and objective reporting.
Moving forward, the exoneration of Governor Sanwo-Olu by Mandate Group serves as a reminder that allegations of corruption and financial misappropriation must be thoroughly investigated and substantiated by concrete evidence before tarnishing someone’s reputation.
“As the citizens of Lagos State, it is vital that we remain vigilant against false accusations and baseless rumors that can harm the reputation of our elected officials.”
