Lagos Councils Congratulate Seyi Tinubu On Okanlomo Of Yorubaland Title
The Conference of the 57 Local Councils in Lagos State has congratulated Barrister Oluwaseyi Abiodun Tinubu on his installation as the Okanlomo of Yorubaland by the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade I.
In a congratulatory statement jointly signed by the Chairman of the Conference, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, and the Publicity Secretary, Hon. Adebayo Olasoju, the councils described the honour as well-deserved and reflective of Tinubu’s long-standing contributions to youth development, philanthropy, and community empowerment across Yorubaland and Nigeria.
According to the statement, the traditional title is a recognition of Tinubu’s consistent support for initiatives that promote social welfare, grassroots development, and inclusive leadership, particularly among young people.
The Conference noted that despite being the son of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Tinubu has continued to demonstrate humility and a strong commitment to grassroots engagement, qualities they said have inspired many Nigerian youths to embrace patriotism, responsibility, and purposeful leadership.
“The installation of Barrister Oluwaseyi Abiodun Tinubu as Okanlomo of Yorubaland signifies the trust reposed in his capacity to uphold the core values of leadership, selfless service, and cultural responsibility,” the statement read.
The Lagos councils further prayed for wisdom, strength, and grace for Tinubu as he assumes the new traditional role, expressing confidence that he would continue to promote unity, preserve Yoruba cultural heritage, and contribute meaningfully to the development of society.
