Kola Awolaja Mourns Reps’ Deputy Chief Whip Adewunmi Onanuga
Hon. Kolawole Dickson Awolaja, a Member of the Ogun State House of Assembly representing Remo North Constituency, has expressed heartfelt condolences to the family, loved ones, and people of Remo Federal Constituency over the passing of Rt. Hon. Adewunmi Onanuga (MHR), fondly known as Ijaya.
In a statement he personally signed, Hon. Awolaja described the death of Onanuga as a profound loss that has created an irreplaceable void in Remo Federal Constituency.
“It is with profound shock that I received the news of the passing of Rt. Hon. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga. Her death has left a vacuum that will be difficult to fill,” Awolaja remarked.
Highlighting her exemplary contributions, Awolaja lauded Onanuga’s leadership qualities, which were evident during her time as Senior Special Assistant in Ogun State and later as a representative of Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. Her dedication earned her the role of Deputy Chief Whip.
“Her numerous empowerment programs aimed at alleviating the suffering of her constituents and her outstanding representation in the House of Representatives made her highly popular and beloved. The immense sorrow her constituents feel is a testament to her impact,” Awolaja added.
The legislator also emphasized Onanuga’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people, stating that her legacy would continue to inspire others in public service.
“Her dedication to improving the lives of the people of Remo Federal Constituency will be sorely missed. May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace,” Awolaja concluded.
Hon. Awolaja currently serves as Deputy Minority Chief Whip in the Ogun State House of Assembly, as well as Chairman of the House Committee on Community Development and Cooperative Society, and Vice Chairman of the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
