Real Madrid are assessing their managerial future amid growing speculation over a possible return for José Mourinho, who is reportedly open to a second spell at the club.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Mourinho has indicated to those close to him that he would welcome the opportunity to return to Madrid, describing it as a chance for a “second chapter” at the Santiago Bernabéu.
“Real Madrid are now informed about José Mourinho’s desire to return. Mourinho has made it clear to people close to him that he would like to return and have a second chance at the club. Real Madrid will decide on the new manager soon,” Romano posted on X.
Mourinho previously managed Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013, winning La Liga and the Copa del Rey while restoring the club’s competitiveness in European competitions.
The Spanish giants are understood to be reviewing their long-term coaching plans, with a decision on their next managerial direction expected soon. Although no official announcement has been made, internal discussions are believed to be ongoing.
Romano also reported that club president Florentino Pérez will personally oversee the process of appointing the next manager.
Mourinho’s name has resurfaced due to his vast experience at the highest level of European football, making him one of the prominent candidates linked with the role.
Real Madrid are expected to clarify their managerial situation in the coming weeks as preparations continue for the upcoming season.
