Iyade Royal Family Seeks Clarity Over Tajudeen Raji’s Lineage

The Iyade Royal Family of Ikeja has called for calm and official clarification following recent claims by Tajudeen Muritala Raji regarding his association with the lineage.

At a press briefing held on Saturday, family representatives expressed concern over what they described as a misrepresentation of identity, noting that Raji’s name and background are unfamiliar within the established structure of the family. They also questioned a separate endorsement attributed to Prince Olushola Coker, who had publicly affirmed Raji as a recognised indigene of Ikeja.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Prince Musiliu Afariogun, who has long served as the head of the Iyade Royal Family, stated that due process and historical lineage remain central to determining membership within the royal household. He emphasized that the family leadership has remained stable over the years and urged anyone laying claim to such positions or affiliations to provide verifiable lineage.

According to him, the family considers it important to avoid unnecessary tension in the community, hence the appeal for the Lagos State Government to step in and provide clarity where needed.

Also addressing the gathering, the Iyalode of Ikeja, Princess Idayat Folashade Adejoke Illo, outlined the recognized branches of the Iyade Royal Family, explaining that all legitimate lineages are well documented and represented. She reiterated that the claims being circulated do not align with the family’s historical records and advised the public to exercise caution regarding unverified publications.

The meeting was attended by key members of the royal family and community leaders, including elders, chiefs, and religious figures, all of whom echoed the call for a peaceful and fact-based resolution.

The family concluded by distancing itself from the disputed claims and reaffirming its commitment to preserving the integrity and heritage of the Iyade Royal lineage in Ikeja.
