Ikorodu Residents Hail Tinubu, Babajimi Benson Over ₦15.7bn Pacific–Igbe Laara Road Project
Residents and stakeholders across Ikorodu Division have welcomed the Federal Government’s approval of the ₦15.7 billion Pacific–Igbe Laara Road project, describing it as a major infrastructure intervention expected to improve connectivity and stimulate economic activities in the area.
The project, approved under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is expected to primarily benefit communities in Ijede and Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Areas, while also serving as an alternative route that will ease traffic and improve transportation across Ikorodu Division.
Reacting to the development, the Emeritus Chairman of the Community Development Committee (CDC), Ijede LCDA, Mr. Rotimi Ayoku-Owolawi, described the approval as a landmark achievement. He said the project would unlock development across more than 150 Community Development Associations in Ijede and Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDAs and improve connectivity within Ikorodu Federal Constituency.
Ayoku-Owolawi commended President Tinubu for approving the project and also praised the Member representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep. Babajimi Benson, for his sustained efforts in attracting federal infrastructure projects to the constituency.
The Director-General of the iCare Foundation and Executive Assistant to the Lagos State Governor on LASPA, Mayor Deen Sanwoola, also welcomed the approval, describing it as a demonstration of collaboration between the Federal Government and the constituency’s representative. He said the road would improve transportation, boost economic activities and create opportunities for residents, businesses and investors along the corridor.
Sanwoola urged residents to continue supporting leaders committed to the development of Ikorodu, describing the project as a significant investment in the future of the constituency.

The Member representing Ikorodu Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. (Dr.) Aro Moshood Abiodun, said the road project would improve connectivity, facilitate commerce, enhance security, encourage investment and improve the quality of life of residents.
He expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for approving the project and commended Rep. Benson for what he described as effective representation that has continued to attract federal presence to Ikorodu.
Community leaders noted that the road is expected to reduce travel time, improve access to schools and healthcare facilities, facilitate agricultural and commercial activities, increase property values and create fresh opportunities for businesses operating within the rapidly growing corridor.
The project is also expected to benefit traders, artisans, transport operators, students, farmers and thousands of daily commuters by providing an alternative route that will ease pressure on existing road networks across Ikorodu Division.
