Hon. Jelili Sulaimon Empowers 100 Alimosho Primary School Pupils Through Vocational Training

Alimosho Local Government, led by Executive Chairman Hon. Jelili Sulaimon, celebrated a significant achievement on Wednesday, 31st July 2024. The local government marked the graduation of 100 primary school pupils who successfully completed a six-month compulsory vocational training program, integrated into their Basic 5 and 6 curriculum.

The graduation ceremony, held at the Local Government Secretariat in Akowonjo, was attended by community leaders, local government staff, and the proud parents of the graduates. Pupils from various primary schools, including Akowonjo Primary School, Ebenezer Primary School, Shasha Primary School, African Church Primary School Akowonjo, Abati Primary School, and Rauf Aregbesola Primary School, participated in this groundbreaking initiative. They received training in vocations such as tailoring/fashion designing, barbing, shoemaking, and hairdressing.

Hon. Jelili Sulaimon, in his address, praised the pupils for their dedication and hard work. “The skills these young students have acquired are a testament to their dedication and our commitment to practical education. This program equips them with valuable skills that will serve them well in the future,” he said.

During the event, the graduating pupils demonstrated their newfound skills by plaiting hair, making shoes, sewing dresses, and barbing, impressing all in attendance. Each of the 100 graduates received a certificate signed by Hon. Jelili Sulaimon and a complete set of work tools to support their future endeavors.

The Executive Secretary of the Alimosho Local Government Education Authority, Hon. (Mrs.) Airat Alamu, emphasized the program’s importance, stating, “This event is the first of its kind in Lagos State and represents a significant step forward for the progress of our pupils and our community.”

Babatunde Opeyemi Yusuf, SA Media to the Executive Chairman, highlighted the chairman’s dedication to youth empowerment. “Hon. Jelili Sulaimon’s commitment to the growth of our younger generation and the creation of a better future for them is unparalleled. His efforts are truly inspiring and have set a new standard for educational initiatives,” he remarked.

The event concluded with heartfelt thanks from parents and other dignitaries who attended. They expressed their gratitude for Hon. Jelili Sulaimon’s vision and support for the community’s youth, praying for his continued success in his mission to improve the lives of Alimosho residents.
