‘Her Death Leaves A Huge Vacuum’ — Gbenga Oni Mourns APC Chieftain Yetunde Adesanya
The death of Chief (Mrs.) Yetunde Adesanya, the South-West Zonal Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has continued to attract tributes from political leaders, associates, and party faithful across Ogun State and beyond.
Among those who paid tribute to the late politician was a prominent APC member from Sango Ward in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area, Mr. Gbenga Oni (GMO), who described her death as a painful loss to the party and the political landscape of Ogun State.
In a condolence message made available to journalists, Oni expressed shock over her sudden demise, describing the deceased as a committed party loyalist, grassroots mobiliser, and philanthropist whose contributions to the growth of the APC would not be forgotten.
“Today, I joined family members, friends, political associates and well-wishers to sympathise with the family of our dear sister, friend and associate, Chief (Mrs.) Yetunde Adesanya, whose sudden departure has left many of us shocked and deeply saddened,” he said.

Oni recalled that he first met the late APC chieftain during the launch of his Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola YAYI for Governor Campaign Movement initiative in 2018 in Ota, noting that she travelled from Odogbolu with her political entourage, accompanied by several party leaders and stakeholders, to support the initiative.
According to him, the encounter marked the beginning of a close relationship built on mutual respect and a shared commitment to the progress of Ogun State and the APC.
He described Adesanya as a woman of uncommon generosity who dedicated her time and resources to supporting people and advancing the interests of the party.
“Aunty Yetunde, as many warmly called her, was remarkably generous and philanthropic. During our campaigns, she went above and beyond, often driving herself across the state, mobilising support and providing souvenirs and gifts from her personal resources to encourage party faithful and supporters,” Oni stated.
The APC stalwart further highlighted the various leadership positions held by the deceased during her political career, including her service as a member of the Judicial Service Commission, Ogun East APC Women Leader, and ultimately South-West APC Women Leader.
“In every position she occupied, she brought energy, dedication and a genuine concern for the welfare of others. Her passing leaves a huge vacuum within our party, her community and among the many lives she touched,” he added.
While mourning her demise, Oni urged family members and associates of the deceased to find comfort in the legacy she left behind.
“While we mourn her departure, we also celebrate a life of service, generosity and impact. My thoughts and prayers are with her daughter, family, friends and loved ones at this difficult time. May God grant them the strength and comfort to bear this painful and irreparable loss,” he said.
Chief Adesanya was widely regarded as one of the leading female voices in the APC in the South-West, earning recognition for her dedication to party development, women mobilisation, and grassroots political engagement.
