DSS Rearrests Ex-AGF Malami After Meeting Bail Conditions
Former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, has been rearrested by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) shortly after meeting his bail conditions and leaving the Kuje Correctional Centre in Abuja.
Sources confirmed that DSS operatives took Malami into custody immediately after his release, following the completion of the bail requirements ordered by a Federal High Court.
It was gathered that the former minister is now facing a fresh investigation by the secret police. DAILY POST learnt that the renewed probe is linked to the discovery of arms at his country home in Kebbi State during a search conducted by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Malami had earlier alleged that the DSS was planning to rearrest him from the Kuje Correctional Centre. A Federal High Court on Wednesday granted bail to Malami, his wife, and his son in the sum of ₦500 million each, with two sureties.
In a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Mohammed Bello Doka, the former attorney-general accused the DSS of mounting surveillance around the correctional facility with the intention of re-arresting him.
Despite meeting the bail conditions, Malami was reportedly picked up by DSS operatives moments after his release from custody.
As of the time of filing this report, the DSS had yet to issue an official statement on the rearrest.
