The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed the Chairman of the Ogun State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji, as a member of the Media and Publicity Committee of its Governorship Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Ogunsiji, a veteran journalist with decades of experience in print and broadcast media, is expected to contribute his wealth of professional and administrative experience to the committee as the party intensifies preparations for the 2027 governorship election.

His appointment comes days after the APC named veteran journalist and Media Adviser to the Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District, Senator Adeola Olamilekan Yayi, Chief Kayode Odunaro, as Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee, while the Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Information and Strategy, Hon. Kayode Akinmade, was appointed Vice Chairman.

Ogunsiji was a former sports reporter with the New Nigerian Newspaper, Abuja, and Sports Presenter with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Abeokuta. He has also served as Editor of Newsflagship Newspaper, Lagos, Editor of First Awareness Newspaper and News Editor of The Encounter Newspaper.

He previously worked as a reporter with Iwe-Irohin Newspaper, Ogun State, and served as Ogun State Correspondent of Daily Champion Newspaper.

A veteran of media union activities, Ogunsiji served as Treasurer of the Ogun NUJ Caretaker Committee and Assistant Secretary of the Ogun NUJ Federated Chapel. He also served as Assistant Secretary and Secretary of Ogun SWAN before becoming its chairman, a position he has occupied for two terms.

His appointment adds another experienced media practitioner to the APC’s campaign media structure as the party builds its publicity machinery ahead of the 2027 elections in Ogun State.

He had acted as the Media Assistant to former Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Gbenga Daniel between 2009-2011, Hon. Soji Akin-Bankole. He was equally the Media Adviser to former UPN and SDP Governorship candidate in Ogun State, Otunba Rotimi Paseda.
