Readership NG reports that the Ilaro Muslim Community has announced the burial arrangements for veteran Yoruba actor, Alhaji Hassan Taiwo, popularly known as Ogogo.

According to a statement issued by the Chief Imam of Ilaro, the funeral prayer for the late actor will be held at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion Ground in Ilaro at 10:00 a.m.

Ogogo, a native of Ilaro, Ogun State, was a prominent figure in the Yoruba film industry, where he distinguished himself as an actor, filmmaker and traditional chant performer.

He was widely respected for his distinctive roles in Yoruba-language films and his contribution to the promotion and preservation of Yoruba culture.

The veteran actor’s career was, however, marked by periods of serious health challenges. In 2025, Ogogo publicly disclosed that he had been battling chronic ulcer for several years.

More recently, his family revealed that the 66-year-old actor was battling stage-four cancer and appealed for urgent medical assistance. His deteriorating condition reportedly prompted colleagues, fans and well-wishers to organise prayers and seek specialist medical care for him.

The announcement of his burial has sparked grief among his fans, colleagues and residents of Ilaro, who continue to mourn the loss of one of the community’s prominent sons and a respected figure in the Yoruba entertainment industry.

The funeral prayer is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion Ground, Ilaro.

The announcement was made by the Chief Imam of Ilaro.
