DSS DG Bags NUJ Man Of The Year Award

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has honoured the Director‑General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Adeola Ajayi, for his leadership role in strengthening collaboration between security agencies and the media.
Oluwatosin got the award at the end of a two-day National Security Summit organised by the NUJ in partnership with the DSS in Abuja.
The NUJ National President explained that under Ajayi’s stewardship, the DSS has pursued regular and constructive interaction with media stakeholders, creating channels that reduce suspicion, curb misinformation and foster cooperative solutions to Nigeria’s security challenges.
According to the NUJ, the prize is a recognition of Ajayi’s leadership in fostering engagement, transparency, and partnership between the media and security institutions.
It said that under the leadership of the DSS DG, the agency has maintained regular engagement with media stakeholders, helping to improve mutual understanding, reduce misinformation and promote cooperation in addressing the country’s security concerns.
According to the NUJ boss, national security is a collective responsibility that needs ethical and professional journalism as well as the accurate dissemination and collaboration among stakeholders.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, who chaired the summit, praised the media and security agencies for their complementary roles in safeguarding Nigeria.
Idris emphasised the need for professionalism, continued collaboration and trust and reassured the Federal Government’s resolve to intelligence-driven security operations, inter-agency partnership, technological advancement and community-based approaches to addressing security challenges.
The summit lauded Ajayi and the DSS leadership for creating a collaborative environment that enabled robust discussions on national security.
