Despite Adunni’s Alleged Irregularities, Abisco Triumphs In Alimosho APC Primary
The All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primary election in Alimosho G-North Ward, held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, ended in confusion and controversy amid allegations of intimidation, procedural irregularities, and manipulation during accreditation and vote counting.
Supporters of Hon. Princess Olabisi Adebajo, popularly known as Abisco, were visibly dominant at the official venue of the exercise, St. Andrews Primary School, Alimosho, Lagos State, as party members gathered ahead of the commencement of the primary election.
While supporters of her main challenger, Hon. Ganiyu Adele Ayuba, were initially reported to have assembled at a different location, Abisco’s supporters maintained a strong presence at the designated venue throughout the exercise.
At about 2:00 p.m., the Executive Chairman of Mosan-Okunola Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Adunni Opeyemi Akindele, arrived at the venue alongside several aides and reportedly assumed the role of APC primary conducting officer.
Witnesses alleged that Chairman Akindele introduced an unidentified woman as her assistant, tasked with overseeing accreditation and the counting of party members eligible to participate in the primary.
Out of the aspirants expected in the contest, only Hon. Princess Olabisi Adebajo and Hon. Ganiyu Adele Ayuba were said to have mobilized supporters to the ward, while other aspirants were conspicuously absent.
Tension reportedly heightened when some party members raised concerns over alleged irregularities in the accreditation process, including claims that individuals who had already been counted were allowed to rejoin the queue.
Hon. Tola Olaiya, an agent of Princess Adebajo, was said to have protested the development, prompting an acknowledgement of error from the unnamed assistant, after which the affected individual was removed from the line.
However, the situation deteriorated further during the counting exercise, as inconsistencies were allegedly observed in the announced figures. Eyewitness accounts claimed that the count jumped from 129 to 140, sparking outrage among party members.
The development led to heated exchanges and sporadic confrontation between supporters of Hon. Adebajo and Hon. Ayuba, forcing an abrupt halt to the process before a conclusive vote could be held.
Following the breakdown of order, Chairman Akindele and the unidentified assistant reportedly exited the premises, bringing the exercise to an inconclusive end amid rising tension.
Despite the controversy that trailed the exercise, party sources later confirmed Hon. Princess Olabisi Adebajo (Abisco) as the winner of the primary election, positioning her as the APC flag bearer for the forthcoming House of Representatives election in Alimosho Federal Constituency.
